User Guidelines

  • Please keep the opening hours of the library and register by phone.
  • For longer “wish lists”, it is recommended that you register them beforehand in writing, by phone or by e-mail. Waiting times can be shortened this way. Communicate references as completely as possible, i. stating the author (with first name), year of publication, title of the work, book or journal title, page number and the like.
  • The loan period is normally four weeks and can be extended on request. We ask you to comply with the loan periods correctly to prevent reminders.
  • The journals can not be borrowed from the display in the reading room, the latest issues of the Zoological Record, as well as the historical, separate works (blue representatives). They can be viewed in the reading room. Works published before 1900 may only be copied or photographed with permission.
  • Literature from the libraries of employees of the Zoologische Staatssammlung (red representatives) can only be borrowed by appointment.
  • Inter-library loan requests can not be fulfilled. In this case, please contact the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek.
  • In principle, borrowed publications may not be taken on trips without the special permission of the library.
  • For loss or damage of borrowed books, magazines, offprints or other media, the borrower is personally liable. This means that lost media must be replaced and repaired damaged at the expense of the hirer.
  • Disclosure of literature to third parties is prohibited. The borrowed media must always be returned directly to the library staff. In the case of postal returns (only in exceptional cases), the delivery fee has to be paid in advance, so that the ZSM incurs no expenses.
  • The magazine may only be entered accompanied by the library staff, with coats and bags remaining in the reading room. Representatives for the literature to be used (gray representatives) must be filled in carefully and legibly and inserted on the shelf in the right place.
  • Photocopies can be made in the gate and then payed to the administration.
